 Hello everyone, I've gotten a couple more of my Christmas presents done--two more double ended oven mitts.  I've considered making some potholders to go with them as a set, but I'm not sure about that yet. Completed Mitts A good part of my time has been taken up with sorting through the nearly 700 books my husband and I have accumulated over the years and deciding which of them to keep.  The rest are being offered to friends and family and whatever is left will be donated.   I'm finding I'm a bit sad this week.  This coming Wednesday, June 10, would have been my husband's 75th birthday.  I don't know why, but this milestone seems to be upsetting me more than his sudden passing.  I just find it very sad that he tried so very hard to get better and couldn't. Sorry.  He's just been on my mind alot this past week. That's really all I have for now.  I need to buy some supplies to keep working on Christmas presents and I really need to quilt ...

Hello everyone, Completed Oven Pot Holder I've been working on using up the leftover farbric from the new pillow covers I made for the living room.  I really should have been quilting some of the completed quilt tops I have, but I always seem to find something that interests me more and, at the moment, this is it. Four Patch Coasters I made some coasters, a new mouse pad for the computer that was my late husband's, and now I'm using up just about the last of the fabric by making double ended pot holders.  I've also been designing some new quilts I'm anxious to start sewing, but I really should quilt all the tops I've already made before I make any more.  Otherwise they'll just keep piling up. Hello all, I've been very busy lately.  I'm still sorting through my late husband's things of course, but I've also been making time for my hobbies.  I finished quilting one of the quilt tops I had hoped to quilt last year, I'm working on another afghan, and finally got around to making two new 18" pillow covers for my living room. Layer Cake Tumble Quilt   Current Afghan Project Buttercup Pillow Covers I still have a few quilt tops to quilt and a few new projects I want to start.  I hope to keep things rolling along even if my progess is a bit slower than I would like. There is a small group of Holy Union Sisters living at the senior assisted living facility where I work part-time.  They are planning a mass in memory of my late husband Gerry sometime this month.  They're a very kind group of ladies and have been very considerate of me and of Gerry before he passed.  It was kind of them to offer to do this mass for him and I appreciate it very much as ...

Hello everyone, I've been busy with funeral arrangements and going through my late husband's things.  I haven't done too much sewing, but I did finish my latest afghan project. Candy Corn Afghan I'll be returning to my part-time job tomorrow and I'll probably have to find a second job or another job altogether to make ends meet, but that's they way it is these days.  Prices never go down only up. Any way, I hope you're all making progress on your projects.  It may be a little while until I get back to mine.  I'm losing interest in the quilt top I started for my niece.  I may  just put it aside for now and try starting something for myself once I have more time for it. Hello everyone, Gerard Philip Smith There is sad news to share.   My husband Gerard (Gerry) passed away Saturday morning.  He had been declining recently, but it was something I wasn't quite prepared for.  He fought very hard to improve after his spinal surgery and then the rehab facility overdosing his insulin.  It's just so sad the surgery meant to improve his life seems to have been the beginning of his decline.  Hello everyone. I haven't posted since September when my husband had his spinal surgery and the nursing home he ended up in nearly killed him.  That is not an exageration.  They over dosed his insulin and he spent a week in ICU.  He then spent three months in rehab getting nowhere with his recovery.  His insurer didn't want to pay for his care in-house any more so he came home November 14th, but ended up back in the hospital that night.  Gerry in Rehab This was three days before my scheduled right knee replacement surgery on November 17th.  Because of my surgery, the doctors wanted him back in rehab for 10-14 days, so off he went again.  They didn't do much for him, though they did call me three times a day every day he was there wanting me to pay them for his stay there even though the insurer was covering the cost in full.  Amazing how they don't know what's going on and won't listen when they're told.
