2023 Christmas Brunch I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas weekend.  Our celebration was rather small.  Just myself, my husband, and my sister this year.  Above is a picture of our Christmas brunch after which we exchanged presents.   We're not really into the present exchange these days, but I always make a little something for everyone.  This year it was table runners and dog bone pillows which I shared in my last post. My recovery from the knee replacement is going well.  Just not well enough to suit me.  I get very frustrated sometimes when my leg muscles just don't want to cooperate.  I'm doing well reciprocating up the stairs, but still working on it going down the stairs.  I've had my last in-home PT session and will be doing some out-patient PT beginning January 8.   I have several quilting projects planned for 2024.  One is the quilt I've contracted to make for a magazine, though I'm still waiting for confirmati...

Christmas is nearly here and I'm still making presents.  As usual.   I don't have too much left to do and there are a couple of gifts I won't need until New Year's  as some of the family is coming in from out of town then instead of Christmas, but at least I'm nearly done.  I know I've shown the Christmas themed table runners I've been working on for gifts, but I've also been making a few for general use.  I'm using a pattern I called "Bordered Blocks."  Here is a photo or two of what this looks like. I've also been working on some dog bone pillows as shown below. My Christmas decor is short a Christmas tree this year.  Due to my knee replacement, I didn't feel safe climbing up and down a ladder to put up and decorate a tree, so I have hung some of my ornaments on a wall in the rough shape of a tree instead.  I think it came out rather well. Here are a few shots of some of my home decor for the holidays. I hope everyone has a safe a...

Quequechan Quilter - 1 December 2023

Well, I finally couldn't stand it any more.  Today I totally went against medical advice and did five loads of laundry, cleaned the bathrooms, and vaccuumed and steam mopped my floors.  I felt so much better when I was done and so did my knee replacement leg.  It did swell up a lot, but has been doing that any way.  That's actually my biggest hurdle with my recovery--the swelling.  It just doesn't want to go down so it's restricting my range of motion.  I've also started to work on my quilted Christmas projects again.  They'll take some time as I can't sit at the sewing machine for too long yet, but I should be able to finish them in time for the holiday. My sister will be coming over on Tuesday to help me take down my fall decorations and put up Christmas.  I don't think I'll be putting up our tree this year though.  That might just be a little too much at this point.  As long as the rest of the decorations are up, I'll be fine with it....
