Quequechan Quilter Update - 27 October 2023

Unfortunately, I don't have any quilting updates this week.  I've spent most of my time at hospitals and doctor's offices in preparation for my surgery in a couple of weeks.  I've barely had any time to get my household in order for when I come home from the hospital and have found no time to work on my quilts. I also had the added stress of my husband having an accident at work today.  He is still in the Emergency Room at the hospital being assessed.  Hopefully, they'll be releasing him soon. As I have nothing much to share this week, I thought I'd share some photos of my fall decorations. I hope everyone has a great week.

I've hung the Too Cute to Spook version of my wallhanging in the living room.  It's just so adorable I smile every time I walk by it. Too Cute to Spook Unfortunately, I lost too much time to other responsibilities this week to complete the quilting of the Rustic Gatherings/Pumpkins version of my wallhanging.  I also had some issues with my sewing machine which didn't help matters any.  It took a couple of days of fiddling with it to figure out what the problem was and get it working correctly again.  Rustic Gatherings/Pumpkins Ready to Quilt Quilting Detail I've also decided to do a more custom quilting on this version, so it will probably take a few days to complete.  Once this is done, I still have four more quilt tops to quilt and my Christmas projects to finish.  I'm hoping my knee replacement surgery won't interfere too much with getting this all done. As always, should anyone have any questions, suggestions, or comments please enter them below. Have a...

I hope everyone had a good week.  I'm so happy that our weather has finally cooled down and fall is here.  I know many people enjoy the summer, but I just find it far too hot. I finished the Too Cute to Spook version of my wallhanging, so I have some photos to share of it.  The Rustic Gatherings version should be finished for next week's post. Back-Too Cute to Spook Front-Too Cute to Spook As you can see in the photos, I haven't finished stitching the label on the back, but all else is completed. I added a page to the blog this week.  I am sharing a simple pattern I designed which I title "Square Cake."  It uses ten inch squares from any layer cake.  If your layer cake has 42 pieces, you can make a quilt approximately 62" X 72" or a 62" square quilt and an 18" pillow to go with it.  If you choose to add borders, you can make the pieced top a bit larger to suit your need. This is the pattern I used to make the Falling in Love quilt I shared a fe...

For anyone who didn't know about it, September 16 was Moda's sew a jelly roll day.  I decided to do one of the free patterns from their Website called Verticals.  I had purchased Moda's Creativity Roars jelly roll and decided that would be the fabric I would use for the pattern.  I did need to purchase some yardage for the background and decided on the Marigold Bella Solid.  This project is definitely outside my usual realm, but that's what these types of projects are for.  Doing something different. Here are a few pictures of the quilt top in progress. The quilt top is nearly all together.  I will probably add a border to it and then put it aside to work on projects I really want finished in the next three weeks. If anyone has a question, comment, or suggestion, feel free to enter it below in the comments box. Have a great week everyone.
