What a week.  My computer has been acting up, which is why I'm posting this a bit later than ususal.  It keeps going a bit spastic for some reason and I have to force a shutdown and reload everything.  It just toook it half-an-hour to load all my programs so I could write this post.  Very frustrating.

Wacky Computer Issues

I also spent three afternoons in doctor's offices with my husband.  He hasn't been doing well with some things and if I'm not there he glosses things over when he speaks with his doctors.  The other thing was deciding to start my fall cleaning.  I reworked the living room and the front bedroom.  That took the better part of two days.

I have managed to finish quilting my Jelly Sticks quilt though.  I just haven't trimmed it and added the binding.  Here are photos of the quilting.  The quilting shows best on the backing.

I should have the binding done by end-of-week.  Then I can work on quilting the Home on the Range quilt top, though I'm still not certain what quilting pattern I want to use on it. I'm actually thinking I may just stipple it.  I haven't stippled a quilt a a few years now, so it would be a change.

Life always interferes with our plans.  I hadn't originally planned on starting my fall cleaning, but was just in the mood for it this past week.  The computer has been acting up for quite some time, but it seemed this week it was particularly troublesome.

Also, remember to check out the free pattern (Square Cake) I posted in my blog pages.  It uses a layer cake, doesn't require any additional fabric except for backing and binding, is very simple to make,and can be done quickly.  I made it in some Valentine's Day fabrics last year and everyone loves it.

I haven't received any feedback from my blog readers about putting together a presentation for anyone considering quilting as a hobby, but I have had from some of the people I've mentioned it to.  Some of the shop owners in the area think it might make a good seminar for people who come in asking about how to get started with the hobby. If anyone here has any thoughts on this or anything else related to my blog, please comment below.

Have a great week and keep finding time to quilt.  It may not always be easy to do, but it doesn't have to be alot of time.  Even just fifteen minutes to cut some binding strips or decide on the fabrics or their placement is time well spent.

 Hello everyone, This is if anyone is still checking in now and then.  Taking care of my husband has taken over everything.  By the time I have time to sew I'm too tired to bother.  They finally scheduled his back surgery for this coming Wednesday. Hopefully, it will go well.  If his back continues to deteriorate, they would have been doing it as an emergency surgery to try to keep him capable of walking.  Not that he's doing much of that these days. Apologies again.  I have had no time to work on any quilting or craft projects.  I've been spending all of my time at hospitals and rehab facilities making sure my husband is doing all right. Unfortunately, when he was transferred to rehab this past Tuesday after his spinal surgery, the nurses at the facility were dosing him with too much insulin.  He ended up in the ER Thursday morning with low blood pressure, low body temperature, and a blood glucose level of 30.  He very nearly died because of their stupidity.  Needless to say, he will definitely not be going back there.  Now I have to fight with his insurance to get them to cover an out-of-network rehab facility that wasn't out of network five months ago when he was there for rehab.  It's also less expensive than the place that nearly killed him.  GRRRRRR! Hello all, I've been very busy lately.  I'm still sorting through my late husband's things of course, but I've also been making time for my hobbies.  I finished quilting one of the quilt tops I had hoped to quilt last year, I'm working on another afghan, and finally got around to making two new 18" pillow covers for my living room. Layer Cake Tumble Quilt   Current Afghan Project Buttercup Pillow Covers I still have a few quilt tops to quilt and a few new projects I want to start.  I hope to keep things rolling along even if my progess is a bit slower than I would like. There is a small group of Holy Union Sisters living at the senior assisted living facility where I work part-time.  They are planning a mass in memory of my late husband Gerry sometime this month.  They're a very kind group of ladies and have been very considerate of me and of Gerry before he passed.  It was kind of them to offer to do this mass for him and I appreciate it very much as ...
